Your name?!
It’s Nano. Yes. But not on my government ID! It’s more of a college nickname that overstayed its welcome.
When did you get into design?
I love design. Somehow, it’s always been a part of my life. Back in middle school, I got my hands on a pirated Photoshop & had a blast hacking my sliding cellphone to tweak its interface & set a self made wallpaper. ✨
Why the mouthful
“Multidisciplinary designer”?
Because it’s true. I’ve been creating & supporting brands for almost 10 years. During that time I’ve gained a wealth of experience in multiple areas of design:
Creative direction / Visual identity / Web interface / Editorial / Print / Illustration / Lettering / Typography / Motion Graphic.
My works also span across different industries:
Healthcare / Insurance / Financial Services / Asset Management / Capital Markets / Hospitality / Education / Media / Associations / Retails / Not-for-Profit.
What’s your focus now?
Graphic design & art direction in the agency environment had been my mainstay. Now, shifting gears to go deeper into digital product design without losing sight of the branding game.
What’s your favorite design philosophy?
Design frustration can make us better designers. It’s part of the process. In a way, it’s the catalyst for improvement & innovation. Well, let’s grab coffee — this philosophy needs a comfy chair & a few hours to unpack!
What do you do outside of the design world?
I like the fast-paced thrill of Blitz Chess. I’ve cracked over 23k games (not hours, promise!). Lately, I’ve also been running, logging 585km in my first year battling the Toronto & Seattle weather. No marathon yet, and I’m okay with that.
Besides, concerts goer / city troller / nature walker / etc. I could be any of those.
